To take the lead in forming a new Korean Wave, in 2005 CJ unveiled its business plans for overseas markets. For starters, the Company decided to invest in Vietnamese dramas and started shooting in Vietnam after announcing its intentions in December. CJ aims to create a new Korean Wave through localization strategies.
In Japan, CJ launched a satellite channel and began commercial broadcasting in the country. CJ will also make moves to enter the broadcasting market in China, and is pushing ahead with the launch of a new channel in the U.S. through partnerships with local companies.
